What's iText .NET

iText, Java-PDF library, is developed by Mr. Bruno Lowagie, Mr. Paulo Soares and co-workes. This library is available under MPL/LGPL license. iText .NET is iText poring on .NET Framework by J#.

In addition, GNU Classpath, JUnit, and Xerces are ported on the way. Refer iText.NET as an example of transferring Java to .NET.

There are several iText port available. Try iTextSharp and original iText on IKVM along with iText.NET. I recommend you to use iTextSharp for a new .NET project. I'm also using iTextSharp.

Excellent tutorials for using iText are described in iText web site. See http://www.lowagie.com/iText/ .

Example codes

License

iText is available under MPL/LGPL license. But iText .NET uses third party libraries. I recommend you cite the following copyright messages in an application using iText.NET.

Requirements

The following fonts are required to execute example programs. Be careful that Barcode font and Adobe's font are NOT free.

iTextSharp 3.0.10 released  (2005/11/09)

iText.NET 2005 based on iText 1.3.5 is released. (2005-11-01)
This verison of iText is compiled using Visual J# 2005 (Beta 2) and it is using standard J# library, not jp.ujihara.java namespaces. [Download]

iText.NET 1.3.4-1 released (2005-10-10). This version is based on iText  1.3.4.

 

iTextSharp 3.0 released by Paulo Soares, who is the most active developer of iText. iTextSharp is C# port of iText, but it had not updated for two years. Now, iTextSharp is synchronizing with Java version by one of the original developers.

  • Fix printed warning message
  • Add example programs including signing examples in J#.
  • Port Bouncy Castle on .NET in order to use as security provider.
